Southbury Land Trust relies on its neighbors to act as de facto stewards. Neighbors should feel free to contact the SLT office (203)264-4441 if they notice any evidence of trespass (all-terrain vehicles, hunting, vandalism, dumping) or other safety hazards on SLT land.
It is SLT’s expectation that our neighbors will respect our property boundary lines and will not encroach (build on, fence, clear, plant on) SLT land in any way. Likewise, our neighbors should contact us immediately if they feel their property is being impacted by anything occurring on SLT’s property.
Connecticut legislation (PA 06-89, section d) allows for land conservation organizations to enforce their ownership and conservation easement rights against encroachment with penalties up to five times the cost of restoration.
